Community care shaped around local needs

Pharmacist Shaheen Bhatia and the pharmacy team were recognised for providing a wide range of services tailored to the local community. The team supported patients in their own languages and promoted the pharmacy as a safe, confidential place for conversations about sexual health.

Following patient feedback, sexual health services were designed to meet local needs, including confidential advice as well as chlamydia and gonorrhoea testing. The team also focused on child-protection training and appropriate safeguarding referrals.

Other highlighted work included multilingual stop-smoking support, travel vaccinations and antimalarial medicine in response to local travel needs, and health-check days that identified people needing further support with raised blood pressure and medicines adherence.
